This project-based elective has been designed for Year 9 students who have an interest in the application of Science, Mathematics, Digital Technology and engineering in problem-solving. The course is designed to deepen these interests and challenge students in a fun and practical way.
The focus of STEM - Accelerated will be on the use of technology and application of Science and Mathematics in the real world. Students will be encouraged to work with their peers, collaborate and investigate to design projects, solve problems and expand their thinking beyond the classroom. There will be opportunities to integrate engineering principles and technologies such as coding to help prepare students for life after high school. Relevant excursions and incursions will be undertaken to help bring our learning to life.
A new theme will be explored each term, culminating in a presentation of the group projects. This subject has the flexibility to accommodate for student-driven projects and students will be encouraged to put forward ideas for Semester two themes.
Please be aware of the minimum requirements for selection into the course: Students must be enrolled in Mathematics and, or Science accelerated in Year 9.
