60% Mathematics ATAR Ready and maintain this standard for S2. Achieved OLNA.

Any student who underperforms in this course in Year 11 will be required to meet with the Head of Learning Area to discuss their continued enrolment in Year 12.

Aim of Course

Mathematics Applications is an ATAR course which provides opportunities for students to develop systematic strategies and use mathematics effectively, efficiently and critically to make informed decisions in their daily lives.

Applications provides students with the mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding to solve problems in real contexts, in a range of workplace, personal, further learning and community settings.

You should select this course because:

  • Mathematics Applications ATAR is a prerequisite for a course you wish to study at university or TAFE

Description of Course

Year 11

  • Unit 1: Consumer Arithmetic, Algebra and Matrices, Shape and Measurement

  • Unit 2: Univariate Data Statistics, Applications of Trigonometry, Linear Relationships

Year 12

  • Unit 3: Bivariate Data Statistics, Sequences, Graphs and Networks

  • Unit 4: Time Series Statistics, Financial Maths, Networks and Decision Mathematics

Assessment

To provide for different learning styles a variety of assessment tasks are used. For each unit tasks will include:

  • Response (tests and quizzes)

  • Examinations
