Extra-curricular activities

Retreats form an integral part of our educational program in which all students participate. Our Retreat Program starts in Year 7, while the three-day Retreat in Year 12 is recognised as a significant life experience and often acclaimed by students as a major highlight of their education.

Camps play an important role in extending the curriculum beyond the classroom. These may be in the form of three day Adventure Camps for all Year 9 & 10 students, various subject camps, Recreational Scuba Diving or Skiing Camps. Similarly, excursions, both in and out of school time, also offer ‘real life’ experiences and enhance student learning.

Inter-House Activities encourage maximum participation, develop House Spirit and are an integral part of Seton life.  Students enjoy a wide range of summer and winter sporting carnivals and competitions, as well as a variety of cultural activities. These include Impro Sports, Creative Writing, Media Production, Go Kart Derby and Variety Performances for charity.

Homework Clubs are run after school on a weekly basis by faculties such as Maths and English. Peer Tutoring sessions are also offered by a group of our senior students.

Public Speaking has had a strong tradition at Seton, both at junior and senior level.

Dance Classes provide another opportunity for students to develop their talents and contribute to College celebrations.

Drama makes a significant contribution to the cultural life of the community. Both Year 11 & 12 students hold major productions that are widely acclaimed, while Year 9 & 10 each present an evening of performance.  Technical workshops offered on sound and lighting are also popular.

Music Ensembles  students may play in one of the College ensembles. These include: the Flute Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Junior Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Rock Bands, Junior Choir, Senior Choir and Setonics Choir. These are in addition to the music classes that are held within normal school hours.  The ensembles excel in a variety of out-of-school performances as well as the Annual Music Concert. Students should see the Director of Music, Mrs Frankish for more information on how to join.

Media, Visual and Industrial Arts are flourishing areas of the curriculum where student involvement extends well beyond the boundaries of the classroom. Once a year the College holds the prestigious Brother Francis Arts Exhibition.

Chess has had a strong following and enjoyed outstanding success in recent years. As WA Champions, the College has had the distinction of representing the State at the National Championships on a number of occasions.

Sport sees the College take part in Inter-school Carnivals for Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country.  Seton also has teams representing the College in a variety of State and Inter-school competitions that include Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Touch Rugby, Cricket, Australian Rules, Tennis, Volleyball, Triathlon and Equestrian.
