Year 9 is an engaging year for Media students to further develop their Media Production skills. Students will learn about production processes using appropriate technical skills, scripts, storyboards and layouts. Media forms from contemporary and past times will be analysed to explore differing viewpoints in Australian and International Media.
Course Outline
Students will develop an understanding of visual literacy through the exploration of digital photography production and the analysis of still images. This will include understanding the principles of digital SLR photography, researching about famous photographers and understanding the power of digital images in our everyday world. The second semester will focus on moving images and short film production.
Course Content:
Introduction to key terminology and technologies related to selected context and focus
Codes and conventions for constructing meaning in the Media
Media works that experiment with narrative conventions and codes
Construction of common stereotypes and how these are short cuts to the meaning and values presented
Representation of ideas, issues or people in the media now, and in the past, and the values they represent or challenge
Role of ethics and social issues in media regulation and its impact on the producers of media work in the context of the Media
Media production skills to integrate and shape codes and conventions in media work for a specific purpose, meaning and style
Assessment
Students will be assessed in a range of ways using many different assessment types such as research journals, and visual presentations. At the conclusion, students will have gained a sound understanding of computer graphics and beware of IT impacts on our society. Students will be required to complete tasks using the technology process. Current technological resources will be available to facilitate their achievement of desired outcomes.
