Do you enjoy being creative? In Media Production students will work in the following media: film, television and photography. They will learn how to problem-solve, work as a team, follow timelines, and use processes and strategies to ensure safe and responsible use of media equipment. They will learn the production process using basic technical skills, scripts, storyboards and layouts. Students will gain an understanding of photo editing with Photoshop and how to manipulate photographic images.

Introduction to key terminology and technologies of the Media
Codes and conventions of common media types, genre and/or styles studied
Point of view for a specific audience
Common stereotypes in media work, the values they represent and how these are shortcuts to meaning
Representation of ideas, issues or people in the media and the values they represent.
Media production skills that integrate and shape codes and conventions in media work for a specific purpose and meaning.
Media work from contemporary or past times to explore differing viewpoints
Assessment
Students will be expected to complete a number of assessment tasks and will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their planning and organisational skills in a number of practical activities. Students will be expected to perform in accordance with the College Assessment Procedure.
