The Fun with Textiles course aims to give you a solid grounding in the use and care of sewing equipment. You will learn the basic skills in machine handling, measuring and techniques. And over the course of the year you will build your skills portfolio with a variety of new processes and techniques.

Students will begin with a simple project, such as a pillowcase, and progress into more detailed articles as confidence grows. There will be opportunity to create simple garments, such as boxer shorts, as well as learn decorative techniques to decorate and personalise your practical projects.

Learning Experiences

  • Using a sewing machine

  • Developing new skills and techniques - hem, seams and finishes.

  • Creation of simple articles for personal use (eg pillowcase, cushion cover).
