An Inclusive Learning Environment

At Seton Catholic College, we are committed to providing a welcoming, supportive and faith-filled learning environment where each student can access and participate in quality academic, co-curricular and community experiences.

Inclusion is a core value that shapes our identity and practice at Seton. Recognising that inclusion looks different for every student, we provide a continuum of support across different contexts to ensure every student is empowered to flourish.

By providing a range of different learning pathways, reasonable adjustments, and additional support services, Seton seeks to enable each young person to achieve their personal goals according to their individual strengths and needs. Working in partnership with families, we aim to develop students’ confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging in the Seton community.

Every student's educational journey is unique. Students with disability are encouraged to participate in all aspects of college life to the best of their ability. The college seeks to provide reasonable adjustments, where possible, to maximise all students’ access to and participation in the college curriculum, camps, excursions and sporting activities, faith formation opportunities and cultural and community engagement activities.

Support Programs

Support may include one or more of the following:

Mainstream Program - Many students with disability or additional needs successfully participate in mainstream classes with:

    • Individual Education Plans (IEP).

    • Access to a Support Coordinator.

    • Pastoral Care Group - Learning and wellbeing monitoring and support by the Pastoral Care Support Teacher

Flexible Inclusion Program - Some students may benefit from a combination of mainstream programs and targeted support through:

    • Literacy or numeracy support groups.

    • St Joseph’s Centre classes.

    • Social and life skills development.

    • Emotional regulation programs and support.

    • Low sensory environments at key times.

Program Placement

Providing comprehensive information assists the College in determining which program is most suitable for each student and enables us to plan adjustments that can support them. Program placement decisions are made by the college Principal (or delegate) after consideration of:

    • The student's educational and wellbeing needs.

    • The student's identified goals.

    • Reasonable adjustments required.

    • Available staffing and specialist resources.

    • Health and safety considerations.

    • The College's capacity to meet the needs.
