Certificate II Dance (Year 10 Course)

Course Description

The Certificate IV in Dance is an incredibly comprehensive and immersive 24-month program designed to equip aspiring dancers with the skills, techniques, and industry knowledge necessary to excel in the competitive world of dance. With five classes per week and structured extracurricular activities, this course provides rigorous technical training while enhancing students’ professional readiness.
Students engage in diverse dance styles, choreography for both stage and screen, performance preparation, and industry-standard conditioning. The program also incorporates anatomy, self-care, safe dance practices, and the creative and logistical elements of production. It offers both virtual and live performance opportunities and encourages innovation through improvisation and collaboration with professionals.

Course Objectives

The objective of the Certificate IV in Dance is to:

  • Develop expert and powerful performances across multiple dance styles.

  • Master training, technique, and performance mentality.

  • Build a sustainable approach to health and safe dance practices.

  • Create impactful solo and group choreography.

  • Understand and apply technical, creative, and logistical aspects of dance production.

  • Prepare students to enter the industry with confidence through portfolio development, career planning, and professional networking.

  • Equip students with the tools and understanding to achieve long-term success in the expansive creative arts industry.

On completion students will: 

  • Develop performance techniques and condition the body for dance performance

  • Demonstrate advanced skill in contemporary, jazz and street dance.

  • Devise & perform own choreography works for public performance.

  • Coordinate production elements for performance

  • Develop dance composition skills and incorporate artistic expression into basic dance performances

  • Integrate rhythm in dance or movement technique

  • Work effectively in the creative arts industry and develop skills in teaching dance.
