Students use computational thinking and information systems to define, design and implement digital solutions. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of digital systems and the representation of data. There is a major focus on process and production skills which are incorporated into practical projects. These projects will follow design process: Investigating and defining, Designing, Producing and implementing, Evaluating and Collaborating and managing. The course is built around the 4 C’s (The 21st century skills of Communication, Collaboration, Critical thinking and Creativity).

THE FOLLOWING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY ASPECTS WILL BE COVERED

  • Creating video game assets using a variety of productivity tools

  • Using an integrated programming environment to develop games with a focus on coding and graphics.

  • Investigating 3D development environments and exploring Virtual Reality

  • Developing interactive WEB pages using HTML and JavaScript

  • Refining research and problem-solving skills focusing on utilizing external resources.

ASSESSMENT

Students will be expected to complete a number of assessment tasks and will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their planning and organisational skills in a number of practical activities. Students will be expected to perform in accordance with the College Assessment Policy

PATHWAY

This subject leads to Certificate III in Information Digital Media and Technology and further studies in Information Technology and Digital Media.
