COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Integral to Health and Physical Education learning area is the acquisition of movement skills, concepts and strategies to enable students to confidently, competently and creatively participate in a range of physical activities in various contexts and settings.

In this course, students will be given the opportunity to extend their knowledge and skills across a broad range of sports and outdoor activities, with the aim of preparing them for success in our Year 11 & 12 courses.

ADVANCED SPORT

This topic gives students the opportunity to extend their knowledge about fitness, as well as develop their skills, strategies and game awareness for select sports.

OUTDOOR RECREATION

Students will also be introduced to the basic concepts of Outdoor Education by actively participating in a variety of activities both in and out of the classroom with the aim of producing well-informed individuals who will contribute towards a sustainable world.

ASSESSMENT

Students will undertake a variety of assessment types as outlined below:

o   Investigations

o   Response

o   Practical

PRE-REQUISITES

Students need to have achieved an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade in Physical Education to be considered for this course. Spaces are limited.

PATHWAY

Students who are interested in studying Outdoor Education ATAR or Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation in Year 11 & 12 will cover some of the basic themes in this course.
