This Business, Technology and Enterprise course is designed to prepare students for success in the modern business world. In Semester One, students examine the role of innovation and its influence on business success. Students explore the way the work and business environments are changing in contemporary Australia and globally, and the implications this has for current and the future work and that of entrepreneurs. In Semester two, students take their understanding of innovation and its influence on business success within the Australian economy and provide opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of the world of work in Australia and Western Australia. This includes, preparing for the workplace by understanding the roles of education, training and employment that is needed as a member of a working team and developing an understanding of how to plan and run a small business

The course is designed to include practical challenges, such as the ASX Share Market competition and real-world studies. A strong emphasis is placed on developing organisation and planning abilities, crucial for effective business management. The course also focuses on the 21st century skills of Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity, ensuring students are well-prepared for the business and enterprise environment.

  • Business Challenges: Engage in a stocks and shares challenge and external competitions focused on business creation. 

  • Entrepreneurship: Explore the fundamentals of starting and managing a business, from idea generation to execution. 

  • Financial Literacy: Develop financial management skills, including budgeting, investment strategies, and financial analysis. 

  • Practical Business Practices: Gain hands-on experience through practical components that emphasize organization, planning, and real-world business practices. 

  • Marketing & Strategy: Learn to design effective marketing campaigns and business strategies. 

  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Enhance problem-solving skills by addressing real-world business challenges. 

ASSESSMENT:

Students will complete two types of assessment tasks, including tests and research Inquiry. Both of these assessments are modelled off the Year 11 and 12 Business Management and Enterprise General assessment coursework. These tasks will provide opportunities for students to showcase their understanding of business concepts, administration skills, and their practical application. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the College Assessment Policy.

This course provides a pathway to further studies in Business, Management and Enterprise in Year 11 and 12, offering a solid foundation for those interested in pursuing careers in business management, administration, finance, marketing and enterprise.
